Agua Hedionda Lagoon is a saltwater wetland and watershed offering year-round recreational and commercial use. The lagoon includes mud flats, salt and freshwater marsh, and deep water and is actually comprised of three lagoons: a 66-acre outer lagoon, a 27-acre middle lagoon and 293-acre inner lagoon. Hosting several festivals and events throughout the year, the lagoon also has a Discovery Center with photography exhitbits featuring local wildlife and the role it played in California's Native American lifestyle. Visitors to the lagoon will also enjoy the Native Plant Garden and walking trails.

Hidden Canyon Trails

This short trail is part of the 22 acre Hidden Canyon Community Park, with two playgrounds, picnic areas and large expanses of lawn. The park also features concrete paths perfect for skating and connects to the dog park. Located at 2700 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA.

Carlsbad Skate Park

This 10,500 square foot park features curved and flat ramps, bowls, a street course and a beginners’ area. Helmet, elbow pads and kneepads required. Park is located at 2560 Orion Way, Carlsbad, CA, next to the Safety Center. Picnic area and restrooms are nearby. Open from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

The original intention was to create a fully protected swimming area, but sand has filled in much of the area inside the wall. This is a very picturesque beach with a panoramic view.
